Bakersfield, California (January 1, 2021) – Three men were killed and three other people were injured on New Year’s Eve in an alleged DUI crash in northwest Bakersfield, according to a local news source.

At about 11:15 p.m. Thursday, December 31, emergency personnel responded to the area of Brimhall Road and Jewetta Avenue for a report of a traffic accident.

Authorities said a vehicle lost control and crashed into a tree in the center median.

As a result of the collision, three men were ejected from the vehicle and were declared deceased at the scene. Their names have not been released.

The male driver and two other passengers sustained minor injuries in the crash. Their condition was not immediately disclosed.

Authorities later determined that the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the accident. The driver was ultimately arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail on suspicion of DUI and vehicular manslaughter related charges.
