Man Killed, One Seriously Injured in Sonoma County Crash on Highway 121 near Wagner Road

Sonoma County, California (December 25, 2020) – A man was killed and another person was seriously injured Thursday morning in a two-vehicle crash near Schellville in Sonoma County, according to a local news source.
The deadly Christmas Eve accident happened just after 9:00 a.m. Thursday, December 24, on Highway 121 near Wagner Road, the California Highway Patrol reported.
According to the CHP, the man was driving his 2009 Mazda southbound on Highway 121 when he attempted to pass another vehicle in the southbound lane in an area with double yellow lines. In the process, the Mazda collided head-on with a Ford pickup that was heading northbound on Highway 121.
Deadly Crash on Highway 121 in Sonoma County
The driver of the Mazda died as a result of the crash. The driver of the Ford sustained major injuries and was transported to Queen of the Valley Hospital.
The two drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were not considered a factor in the accident.
Both lanes of Highway 121 were closed due to the crash. As of 11:40 a.m., all lanes were reopened to traffic.
The crash remains under investigation.
