Sacramento, California (December 19, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Thursday afternoon alleged DUI crash that killed a man and left at least two other people injured in Sacramento.

The deadly two-vehicle accident transpired at about 4:00 p.m., on December 17, at the intersection of 65th Street and Fruitridge Road.

According to the officials, a Ford SUV, driven by Charles Howell, 62, crashed into a Toyota Corolla at the intersection for undetermined reasons.

As a result of the collision, the Ford reportedly overturned.

Sadly, a male adult in the SUV suffered major injuries and was taken to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

One other patient in the SUV was also hospitalized with major injuries.

According to the detectives, Howell, who sustained minor injuries, was at fault in the crash and was intoxicated while driving. He was arrested on felony manslaughter and DUI charges.

Speed was suspected of having played a role in the accident, the police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
