Hemet, California (December 13, 2020) – The Riverside County Coroner’s Office has identified one of the two people who died following an alleged DUI car crash early Saturday morning in Hemet as Dane Adkins-Radford, 21, of Hemet.

The deadly two-car accident occurred at about 3:49 a.m. Saturday, December 12, on eastbound Florida Avenue at Kirby Street.

Authorities said a BMW 535i sedan, driven by Jesus Rios, 33, of Downey, was traveling eastbound on Florida Avenue towards Kirby Street when it failed to stop at the intersection.

Unfortunately, Rios’s BMW reportedly rear-ended a Honda Fit hatchback that had stopped at a red traffic signal.

Adkins-Radford, who was riding in the Honda, died at the accident scene while another occupant of the Honda was transported to Riverside University Health System Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.

A third person in the Honda sustained major injuries in the accident.

Rios, who was not injured, attempted to flee the scene on foot but was eventually arrested. He was booked into jail on suspicion of DUI, two counts of vehicular homicide, and attempted hit-and-run.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
