Watts, CA: Woman Hit, Killed by LA Patrol Vehicle at Central Avenue and Imperial Highway

Los Angeles, California (December 12, 2020) – A homeless woman was struck and killed by two vehicles, including a Los Angeles County sheriff’s department patrol vehicle, Friday morning in the Watts neighborhood in southern Los Angeles, according to a local news source.

The deadly accident happened at around 6:23 a.m. in the area of Central Avenue and Imperial Highway near the Nickerson Garden.

Authorities said the woman was lying in the roadway when she was first hit by the patrol vehicle that was heading westbound on Imperial Highway towards Slater Avenue.

The woman was then struck by another vehicle.

Pedestrian Hit, Killed by Two Vehicles in Watts

The woman, believed to be approximately 40-50 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The deputies stopped at the scene after the crash while the civilian driver fled the scene.

Investigators described the second vehicle as a white truck. There was no description of the hit-and-run driver.

The accident remains under investigation.
