Man Hospitalized after Bakersfield Pedestrian Accident on Highway 99 near Ponds Road
Bakersfield, California (October 29, 2020) – A man was hit and seriously injured by a vehicle early Thursday morning in Bakersfield.
The major injury pedestrian crash happened on southbound Highway 99 in the No.3 lane, just north of Pond Road, between Delano and McFarland.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a semi-truck was driving along the highway approaching the male pedestrian from behind.
The driver of the big rig braked and swerved, attempting to avoid the pedestrian. Unfortunately, the right side of the vehicle struck the pedestrian, the officials said.
As a result of the collision, the man was onto the right shoulder of the roadway.
Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Crash on Highway 99
The man sustained major injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
More details about the accident were not immediately available.
The crash remains under investigation.
