Talent Finn among 2 Killed in Highway 14 Accident near Newhall Avenue
Newhall, California (October 24, 2020) – Talent James Finn, 17, of Lancaster, was among two people who died in a traffic accident that happened Sunday evening in Newhall, according to authorities.
The California Highway Patrol said the deadly two-vehicle accident happened at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, October 18, on northbound Highway 14 near Newhall Avenue.
According to the CHP, a Castaic Tow flatbed truck was traveling northbound on Highway 14 when, for unknown reasons, it rear-ended a 2015 Nissan.
Talent, who was in the Nissan, was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Talent’s mother, identified as Murdewiyanti Finn, 48, of Lancaster, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Talent’s father, Erick Finn, and 12-year-old sister, were transported to Northridge Hospital with minor injuries.
Both lanes of Highway 14 were closed due to the crash.
Drugs or alcohol were not considered a factor in the accident.
A GoFundMe page has been created to help cover the funeral expenses of both victims.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
