Temecula, California (October 16, 2020) – A woman was killed and two other people were seriously injured Friday morning in a single-vehicle crash on an interstate in Temecula, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The deadly crash happened at around 7:14 a.m. in the northbound lane of Interstate 15, just north of Rainbow Valley Boulevard.

The CHP said a 1993 Honda Civic was heading northbound on Interstate 15 at about 70 miles per hour, approaching a freeway construction zone when the driver, a 29-year-old Upland man, made unsafe turning movement and lost control of the vehicle.

The Honda then went up a dirt embankment and flipped onto its roof in the center median.

A passenger in the Honda, a 28-year-old Ontario woman, was partially ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and another passenger, a 45-year-old Ontario woman, sustained major injuries in the crash. Both were taken to Inland Valley Medical Center. Their condition at this time was not disclosed.

Freeway lanes were shut down during the investigation.

The name of the deceased woman was withheld pending notification of family.

The crash remains under investigation.
