Humboldt County, California (October 7, 2020) – A Caltrans contracted worker was injured after being struck by a car in Humboldt County on Wednesday morning.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Highway 101 near Indianola Cutoff Road at about 5:40 a.m.

46 year old Charles Hatherill, Jr., of Eureka, was working in the southbound no. 2 lane of Highway 101 when he stepped out from between the trucks and was struck by a 2001 Dodge pickup.

Mr. Hatherill complained of pain and was transported to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment.

The Dodge driver, 65 year old Paul Giacomini, of Fortuna, was unhurt.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
