Moreno Valley, California (September 17, 2020) – One person was killed and another was injured Wednesday morning after a police chase ended in a traffic crash at a Moreno Valley intersection, according to authorities.

The incident began at around 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, September 16, when a motorcycle police officer attempted to pull over the driver of a black Jeep for driving while intoxicated in the area of Heacock Street and Dracaea Avenue.

The suspect did not stop and fled the scene, causing the deputy to chase him.

The Jeep ran a red light at the intersection of Indian Avenue and Krameria Avenue and crashed into a Hyundai Santa Fe that was heading westbound.

The Jeep rolled over after the impact.

The driver of the Jeep was declared dead at the scene. The name of the victim was withheld pending notification of family.

The driver and passenger of the Hyundai were taken to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.

Both vehicles sustained major damage following the crash.
