Buttonwillow, California (September 14, 2020) – A teenager was killed and another was injured in a collision involving a quad bike in Buttonwillow on Friday night.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Brite Road at Wasco Way.

The authorities said a 13-year-old boy was riding a Yamaha YZR 450 quad bike when he drove into the path of a 2000 Honda Civic driven by Eduardo Zapedo, 19 of Delano.

The impact of the collision ejected the teenager and his 15-year-old male passenger.

The driver was killed in the crash.

The passenger sustained major injuries and was flown to Kern Medical for treatment.

Zapedo sustained minor injuries in the accident while his passenger, 26-year-old Jose Navaro of Delano.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
