Chico, CA: Man Seriously Injured in Rollover Crash on Highway 99
Man Hospitalized after Chico Car Accident on Highway 99 near East First Avenue
Chico, California (August 14, 2020) – A man was seriously injured in a rollover crash on Friday morning in Chico, police said.
Just before 7:30 a.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to the major injury crash on Highway 99 just after the on-ramp off East First Avenue.
According to the CHP, a truck, driven by a woman, was traveling northbound on the fast lane of the highway and was about to make a lane change when she noticed two objects in the middle of the road.
The woman reportedly tried to avoid the objects in the roadway but was unable, causing her to lose control of the vehicle. The truck flipped over and landed on one of the trees off the highway embankment.
First responders arrived at the scene and extricated a male passenger from the truck.
Major Injury Traffic Collision on Highway 99 in Chico
The male passenger was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
The female driver sustained minor injuries.
Drugs or alcohol were not suspected of having played a role in the mishap.
One lane of the highway was blocked for an unknown period due to the accident.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
