Christopher Jones Killed in Oakland Motorcycle Accident
Authorities Say Victim of Wednesday Night Highway 24 Motorcycle Crash was Christopher Jones
Oakland, California (July 30, 2020) – The Alameda County Coroner’s Office said Christopher Jones was the motorcyclist who died after colliding with a Honda Accord Wednesday night in Oakland.
The 51-year-old Davis man had pulled onto the right-hand shoulder along Highway 24 and attempted to re-enter the eastbound lanes when his Yamaha motorcycle was struck by the Honda.
The accident happened at about 11:17 p.m. just west of Highway 13 near the Caldecott Tunnel, as per a California Highway Patrol report.
Jones was ejected from his bike after the impact and landed in a traffic lane.
First responders pronounced the man dead at the scene. There was no other person who was hurt.
The crash left all eastbound lanes of the highway closed for about 45 minutes as an investigation was done.
CHP said they did not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.
