Josh Daugherty, Eduardo Navarro Suffers Major Injuries in Fatal 2-Vehicle Crash on Benton Crossing Road in Mammoth Lakes
Josh Daugherty and Eduardo Navarro among 5 Seriously Injured in Mammoth Lakes Car Accident on Benton Crossing Road near Pit Road
Mammoth Lakes, California (July 29, 2020) – Josh Daugherty and Eduardo Navarro, both of Mammoth Lakes, were among five people who were injured Saturday night in a traffic accident that also killed one person in Mammoth Lakes.
The fatal crash happened at around 9:00 p.m. Saturday, July 25, on Benton Crossing Road, just west of Pit Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Daugherty was driving a Toyota Tacoma Crew Cab on Benton Crossing Road at a stated speed of 55-60 miles per hour when he made a series of turning movements that caused him to lose control of his vehicle. The Toyota rotated and skidded across both lanes of Benton Crossing.
The Toyota then drifted into the opposite lane, where it collided with a white 2016 Kia Sorento that was heading eastbound in a curved portion of Benton Crossing Road.
Krystal Kazmark of Mammoth Lakes, who was riding as a passenger in the Toyota, died in the accident. Daugherty and his passenger, Navarro, were taken to Mammoth Hospital with major injuries.
Richard Holcomb and his passenger, Lora Holcomb, sustained major injuries. A juvenile passenger in the Kia suffered moderate injuries. All three patients were transported to Mammoth Hospital for treatment.
All occupants of the Kia were wearing their seatbelts when the accident happened.
No other details about the crash were immediately provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
