Man Killed in Long Beach Bicycle Accident on Orange Avenue near Del Amo Boulevard

Long Beach, California (July 26, 2020) – A bicyclist died after being hit by a vehicle in Long Beach early Sunday morning, according to authorities.
At about 3:30 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the accident on Orange Avenue near Del Amo Boulevard.
Authorities said a man was riding his bicycle southbound on Orange Avenue when, for unknown reasons, he was struck by a vehicle that was also traveling southbound on the same roadway.
First responders arrived at the scene and found the male rider lying down in the southbound lane of Orange Avenue.
The man was treated by medical personnel, but he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was withheld pending notification of next of kin.
The driver of the vehicle involved reportedly fled the scene after the crash. Police are still searching for the hit-and-run motorist.
