Coronado, California (July 6, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday afternoon bicycle accident that left four people injured in Coronado.

The crash occurred at around 4:00 p.m., on July 4, in the 800 block of First Street.

According to the police, a car driven by a 50-year-old man collided with four bicyclists on the roadway. The manner at which the crash occurred is yet to be established.

4 Injured in Bicycle Accident on First Street in Coronado

Two men and two women cyclists were injured in the accident. Three of the victims were taken to a San Diego hospital with injuries ranging from minor to serious. The other one patient declined hospitalization.

The involved driver was unresponsive for a short period following the accident. It was alleged that he experienced a medical issue while operating his vehicle, the officials said.

Drugs or alcohol did not play a role in the crash.

An investigation into the accident is underway.
