Nevaeh Gomez Dies Day after Oxnard Scooter Accident on East Pleasant Valley Road near Hailes Road

Oxnard, California (June 26, 2020) – The girl who died after a traffic accident involving a scooter Monday night in Oxnard has been identified as Nevaeh Gomez, 7, of Oxnard.
The deadly collision occurred at about 9:15 p.m. Monday, June 22, on East Pleasant Valley Road, just west of Hailes Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Jacob Caliboso, 21, of Oxnard, was driving a 2016 Acura TLX sedan westbound on Pleasant Valley when he allowed the vehicle to cross the center median and collided head-on with a 2013 Yamaha scooter that was heading eastbound.
Gomez, who was riding on the back of the scooter, was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries the following day.
The driver of the scooter, Elva Andrade, 55, of Camarillo, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Caliboso was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and felony gross vehicular manslaughter.
As of Friday night, Caliboso remained in jail with bail set at $100,000.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
