Byron, California (May 10, 2020) – One person was killed when a glider tow plane crashed at an airport in Byron on Saturday, according to the authorities.

The crash happened at about 1:26 p.m. May 9, at the Byron Airport.

According to authorities, a single-engine Bellanca 8GCBC towing a glider was taking off from the airport when it crashed for unknown reasons.

The pilot was the sole occupant of the plane, which flipped and was engulfed in flames following the crash.

The Pilot died in the accident. There were no details on the pilot’s identity.

The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the crash.
