Victor Cruz Identified as Man Killed in Arvin Car Accident at Highway 223 and Fairfax Road

Arvin, California (May 6, 2020) – Authorities are investigating a Monday morning car crash that killed one person in Arvin.
The crash happened at about 5:15 a.m., on May 4, in the area of Highway 223 and Fairfax Road.
The police said Victor Paul Cruz, 32, of Bakersfield, was driving a Lexus on Fairfax Road. Cruz was speeding while making multiple unsafe passes when he failed to make a complete stop at the intersection.
A Mini Cooper that was traveling westbound on Highway 223 struck the Lexus on the driver’s side. The impact caused the Lexus to drift off the road and into a field, said the officials.
The Mini Cooper was also sideswiped by a Toyota Tundra traveling eastbound on Highway 223, according to the CHP.

Following the mishap, Cruz was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol or drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
