Fresno, California (April 24, 2020) – One person was killed when a police chase led to a collision on Thursday afternoon in Fresno, according to the authorities.
The crash occurred at about 3:30 p.m. April 23, at Fresno Street and Olive Avenue.
According to the report, police pulled over a red Mustang at the intersection of Fresno Street and Olive Avenue and noticed a holstered gun sitting next to the driver. The driver then took off and the officers initiated a chase.
The chase continued on Olive Avenue and as the suspect approached the intersection of Cedar, another officer saw the suspect and began to pursue it. The suspect’s vehicle then swerved from the eastbound lane into the path of oncoming traffic, where it collided with an oncoming truck.
One Killed in Fresno Chase and Crash on Olive Avenue
The driver of the truck was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect reportedly got out of his vehicle after the crash and fled the scene. Officers arrested the suspect shortly after the collision.
No further details were released.
The crash is under investigation.
