Amador County, California (March 31, 2020) – Two people died, and three others were seriously hurt following a head-on crash that took place Sunday night in Amador County, the California Highway Patrol reported.

According to a local news source, the fatal collision was reported shortly before 8 p.m. March 29, along Highway 16 near Welsh Pond Road.

The accident involved a 2013 Volkswagen Passat and a 2018 Chevy Cruze that collided head-on along the Highway, near Plymouth and Drytown areas for reasons still under an active investigation.

2 Killed, 3 Seriously Injured in Amador County Crash

The Chevy motorist, who was identified as a female party, and her juvenile male passenger were declared dead at the scene by fire department officials along with the medical personnel.

Three other occupants riding in the Volkswagen, including its driver, sustained major injuries following the crash. The three Sacramento residents were transported to valley trauma centers for treatment.

Meanwhile, the names of both the deceased and the injured victims have not yet been released to this time.

The wreck resulted in the closure of Highway 16 for several hours as investigation and clean up took place.

The CHP is still investigating to identify the cause of the accident.
