Alex Waddle Arrested after Suspected DUI Los Gatos Collision on Highway 17

Los Gatos, California (February 23, 2020) – Alex Waddle, 33, of Capitola, was arrested following a wrong-way collision that left at least six people injured early Thursday morning in Los Gatos, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident happened at around 12:57 a.m. February 20, on Highway 17 near the Highway 85 junction.

CHP said Waddle was driving a 1995 Jeep Wrangler southbound in the northbound lanes of Highway 17 when he collided with a 2017 Acura. The Jeep then flipped and ejected Waddle.

Following the collision, the Acura was engulfed in flames. A 2007 Yamaha motorcyclist slid while avoiding the crash and ended up ejecting the rider.

Waddle and the motorcyclist were rushed to the hospital with major injuries.

The four occupants of the Acura were hospitalized with minor injuries.

Waddle was arrested on suspicion of DUI following the crash.

The CHP is investigating the incident.
