Luis Avila-Arriaga Injured in Napa Pedestrian Crash on Highway 29 near Imola Avenue

Napa, California (February 23, 2020) – A pedestrian was hospitalized with major injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Friday night in Napa, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The incident took place at about 10:30 p.m. February 21, on Highway 29 near Imola Avenue.

According to the CHP, Luis Avila-Arriaga, 32, of Napa, was walking across Highway 29 when he was struck by a southbound Land Rover driven by Bettina Sichel of Sonoma.

Luis Avila-Arriaga Injured in Napa Pedestrian Collision

Avila-Arriaga was transported to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa for treatment of major injuries. CHP said Avila-Arriaga was intoxicated at the time of the accident.

Sichel was uninjured in the crash. He was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, CHP said.

The incident is under investigation.
