Authorities Say Octavio Giron was Struck and Killed by Car near Mount Vernon Avenue and Belleview Street
San Bernardino, California (January 9, 2020) – A 28-year-old man was struck and killed by a car Tuesday as he crossed a street in San Bernardino, a local news source reported.
Authorities said Octavio Giron, of San Bernardino, walked into traffic on Mount Vernon Avenue near Belleview Street at around 6:00 p.m. and was hit by a Honda Civic.
Giron sustained fatal injuries and died in the accident.
The driver of the Civic, a 23-year-old San Bernardino resident, was not injured. Police said the driver did not appear impaired and was not speeding at the time of the accident.
Officers are investigating if Giron may have been intoxicated at the time he was struck by the vehicle.
