Esmail Soltani Killed in Upland Plane Crash on Overland Court near Mountain Avenue

Upland, California (November 18, 2019) – The pilot who was killed when a single-engine plane crashed into a home earlier this month in Upland has been identified as Esmail Soltani, 49, of Palos Verdes Estates, authorities said.
The crash happened at about 11:00 a.m. December 7, in the 1200 block of Overland Court near Mountain Avenue.
According to the authorities, the 2007 fixed-wing Cirrus SR-22 was flying from Torrance Municipal Airport to Cable Airport when, for reasons still under investigation, the plane crashed into the single-story home on Overland Court. The crash sparked a house fire.

Soltani was the pilot and sole occupant of the aircraft. Soltani died in the crash.
Authorities said a man and his young son who were inside the house at the time of the accident were not injured.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the cause of the crash.
