Duarte, California (December 15, 2019) – One person was killed and two other people were injured early Sunday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on the Foothill (210) Freeway in Duarte, according to a local news report.

The deadly accident occurred at about 2:45 a.m. on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway at the Buena Vista Street exit and involved six vehicles.

According to the California Highway Patrol, for an unknown reason, a Ford Fusion crashed into a guardrail and was hit by a Ford Escape.

A third vehicle, a Toyota Highlander, was reportedly struck by a Ford Mustang. Two other vehicles were somehow involved in the crash.

The force of the impact ejected a 21-year-old woman from the passenger seat of the Highlander.

The woman, whose name was withheld pending family notification, died in the accident

Two people were transported by responding paramedics to a local area hospital with unspecified injuries. Their names and current conditions were not immediately disclosed.

The driver of the Ford Mustang was determined to be under the influence and was arrested. The driver of the Ford Fusion reportedly fled the scene after the accident.

At around 3:24 a.m. a SigAlert was issued for the closure of all westbound lanes of the Foothill (210) Freeway.

The accident remains under investigation.
