John Birdsong Arrested after Jamestown Car Crash on Highway 49 at 5th Avenue

Jamestown, California (December 10, 219) – John William Birdsong, 68, of La Grange was arrested following a suspected DUI crash that left three people injured in Jamestown on Saturday evening, according to a local news source.
The crash happened just after 6 p.m. December 7, on Highway 49 at 5th Avenue.
Authorities said a 2013 Chevrolet Express van was traveling southbound on Highway 49 when it stopped for a red light at the 5th Avenue intersection.
Shortly after, Birdsong failed to stop and crashed his 1990 Nissan Pathfinder into the back of the stopped van. The Pathfinder then left the roadway and went down an embankment.
John Birdsong Arrested after DUI Collision in Jamestown
Two passengers in the van were transported to Adventist Health Sonora with minor injuries.
Birdsong was also hospitalized with minor injuries at Adventist Health. He was then arrested and booked into Tuolumne County Jail on suspicion of DUI.
The crash is under investigation.
