Leroy Wikander Injured in Fatal Lancaster Car Accident on Avenue D at 60th Street West
Leroy Wikander ID’d as Victim Injured in Lancaster Crash on Avenue D (SR-138) at 60th Street West

Lancaster, California (November 27, 2019) – A person was killed and another was injured Monday afternoon in a traffic accident involving two vehicles at a Lancaster intersection, according to authorities.
The deadly accident took place at about 4:55 p.m. Monday, November 25 at the intersection of Avenue D and 60th Street West. Avenue D is also known as SR-138.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, a red 2011 Ford Focus , driven by Leroy G. Wikander, 73, of Rosamond, was traveling northbound on 60th Street West while a silver 2000 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup, operated by Saul B. Lozoya, 56, of Lancaster, was heading westbound on Avenue D.
Reportedly, the Ford Focus stopped for the posted stop sign at Avenue D and then proceeded into the intersection. Wikander failed to yield the right away to the westbound Dodge pickup truck.
Lozoya applied brakes but failed to stop and crashed into the rear of the Ford Focus.
A 56-year-old Rosamond woman, who was riding as a passenger in the Ford Focus, was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries. Her name has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
Wikander sustained unspecified injuries and was transported to Antelope Valley Hospital.
Lozoya was not injured in the crash.
Authorities said neither alcohol nor drugs were factors in the crash.
No further information was provided.
