38-Year-Vista Woman Killed in San Clemente Crash on Interstate 5 Freeway near Avenida Magdalena
San Clemente, California (November 23, 2019) – A woman was killed after a semi-truck tire lost a tire and hit a Tesla in San Clemente Friday morning, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash was reported at about 8:53 a.m. Friday, November 22 on the northbound Interstate 5 Freeway, just south of Avenida Magdalena.
According to the CHP, the white container truck tire bounced over the center divider from the southbound side of the Interstate 5 over to northbound lanes and struck a red Tesla that was traveling northbound on the freeway.
The truck, which had XPO written in red on the side, pulled over onto the shoulder and stopped by the Cristianitos Road exit and was going to be inspected.
Driver Killed in San Clemente Truck Accident
The driver of the Telsa, only identified as a 38-year-old woman, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Her name has not been released pending notification of family.

The CHP is investigating the cause of the fatal crash.
