Pedestrian Killed in Long Beach Hit-And-Run Crash at Magnolia Avenue and Cowles Street

Long Beach, California (October 19, 2019) – A 59-year-old Long Beach man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Thursday night in Long Beach, according to police.

The auto-pedestrian accident was reported at about 8:40 p.m. October 17, at Magnolia Avenue and Cowles Street.

Long Beach police said the man was walking across Magnolia Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk when he was hit by a southbound 1998 Honda Civic.

The driver of the Honda fled the scene after the incident.

Paramedics responded to the incident and tried to revive the victim in the middle of the road.

Man Killed in Long Beach Hit-And-Run Crash

The victim was then rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His identity was not released pending notification of the next of kin.

Police tracked down the suspect to the 500 block of Magnolia Avenue, less than a mile south of the scene of the crash. The suspect was taken into custody and booked on suspicion of hit-and-run .

The incident is under investigation.
