Santa Barbara, California (October 17, 2019) – The authorities have disclosed the identity of a woman who was seriously injured after being hit by a Santa Barbara Metropolitan Transit District bus last week Thursday.

According to a local news source, the deadly collision occurred at about 2:20 p.m. October 10, on West Figueroa Street near Chapala Street in downtown Santa Barbara.

The authorities said 60-year-old Aura Mijangos was driving the MTD bus eastbound on the roadway when he veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and struck two women who were sitting on a bench at a bus station.

One of the women, 67-year-old Eve Debra Johnson of Santa Barbara, was killed in the collision.

The second pedestrian, 75-year-old Gloria Bravo De Ayala of Santa Barbara, was critically injured in the accident and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Two occupants of the bus were hospitalized with minor injuries.

The bus driver was unhurt.

No further information was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
