Santa Ana, California (October 13, 2019) – The person who died in a traffic accident Saturday morning at an intersection in Santa Ana has been identified as Kobe Kidwell, 20, of Santa Ana.

The fatal crash took place at about 10:50 a.m. Saturday, October 12 at the intersection of Newhope Street and Westminster Boulevard.

According to police, a black 2014 Toyota Camry was turning left at the Santa Ana intersection when for an unknown reason, it hit a purple 2013 Hyundai Sonata. The force of the impact pushed the Hyundai into a streetlight pole.

Kidwell who was riding as a passenger in the front seat of the Hyundai was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Hyundai sustained facial injuries and was taken to a local area hospital. Two female passengers in the back seat were taken to a hospital with severe internal injuries. One was listed in critical condition.

The driver of the Toyota was uninjured in the wreck.

Police said neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected to be a factor in the collision.

The crash is under investigation.
