Pilot Dies in Ventura County Plane Crash near Camarillo Airport

Ventura County, California (October 8, 2019) – A pilot died when a small plane crashed in a field outside the Camarillo Airport Tuesday, according to authorities.
The deadly crash happened just after 12:30 p.m. near Camarillo airport.
Authorities said the aircraft, a BD-5 experimental jet, was attempting to make it back to the airport when it experienced a loss of power after takeoff and crashed. The plane then caught fire.
The pilot who was the only person aboard the plane died in the crash. The name of the victim has not been disclosed pending notification of family.
The crash remains under investigation by The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
