San Francisco, California (October 3, 2019) – One of the four people who were killed early Thursday morning in a traffic accident involving a wrong-way driver in San Francisco has been identified as  Emilie Ross, 34, of Hillsborough.

The fatal accident happened at about 12:30 a.m. on Highway 101 near Paul Avenue.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Volkswagen driven by Ross was reportedly traveling the wrong way when it collided head-on with a taxi carrying two passengers.

One of the passengers in the taxi was ejected from the vehicle upon the impact.

Ross who was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol died in the crash. The driver of the taxi and his passengers were also killed in the collision.

All lanes of northbound U.S. 101 were shut down for nearly seven hours following the crash. As of 7:00 a.m., the roads were reopened.

No further information was provided.

An investigation to determine the cause of the accident is ongoing.
