Bakersfield, California (October 3, 2019) – One of the two people who were killed Wednesday night in a traffic accident involving a motorcycle in Southwest Bakersfield has been identified as Lorena Espinoza, 23.
The deadly crash happened at about 8:10 p.m.Wednesday, October 2 on Wilson Road, just west of South Real Road.
Authorities said the driver of a silver sedan trying to make a left turn allegedly failed to yield to a motorcycle traveling eastbound on Wilson Road, leading to the crash.
Espinoza, who was riding as a passenger in the motorcycle, was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the motorcycle was rushed to the hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The driver of the sedan remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.
Police said alcohol and drugs were not suspected to be factors in the crash.
The accident caused a closure of Wilson Road between South Real and Wible roads for approximately two to three hours as the scene was examined and cleared.
The Bakersfield police are investigating the crash.
