Sacramento County, California (October 2, 2019) – An elderly Army Veteran was killed in an auto-pedestrian accident in Sacramento County on Tuesday morning, according to a CHP report.

The incident happened in the area of Palm Street and Arnold Avenue on Tuesday, October 1.

CHP said a 73-year-old man and his wife were trying to cross the street to a dentist appointment when a vehicle struck the man.

The victim, identified as an army veteran, reportedly pushed his wife out of the way and she was not struck.

Elderly Man Killed in Sacramento County Pedestrian Crash

Emergency crews responded to the incident and performed CPR on the victim but he died at the scene of the collision.

The driver of the involved vehicle reportedly fled the scene after the accident. The suspect was operating a full-size gray pickup truck.

The incident is under investigation.
