Chula Vista, California (October 1, 2019) – A fatal auto-pedestrian collision left one person dead and three others injured on Monday afternoon in Chula Vista, according to the Chula Vista police.

The crash happened just after 1 p.m. September 30, in the 500 block of Fourth Avenue.

Police said a construction vehicle traveling northbound on Fourth Avenue swerved off the side of the roadway and crashed into several parked vehicles. The impact pushed one parked pickup truck into a pedestrian who then got trapped underneath the truck.

A woman and a child who were standing nearby were also hit by the vehicle.

Man Dies in Chula Vista Pedestrian Crash

The trapped victim was pulled out by the firefighters and rushed to UCSD Medical Center in San Diego, where he succumbed to his injuries.

The other two pedestrians and a child who was inside one of the impacted vehicles were transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
