Jason Holsinger Killed in Carlsbad Train Accident on Grand Avenue

Carlsbad, California (September 27, 2019) – 37-year-old Jason Lynn Holsinger of San Diego has been identified as the bicyclist killed after a train accident on Thursday evening in Carlsbad, according to a local news source.
The collision happened at around 7:25 p.m. Thursday, September 26, on Grand Avenue.
As per the report, Holsinger was riding east on Grand Avenue around a fully lowered barricade when he crashed into the side of the Amtrak train. The train was reportedly traveling at 63 mph at the time of the collision.
Fatal Train Accident Victim in Carlsbad Identified
Holsinger was rushed to Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside with severe brain injuries. He succumbed to his injuries at 7:50 p.m.
The North County Transit District said that buses were sent to ferry stranded Coaster riders northward to the Oceanside Transit Center.
The Carlsbad police and the sheriff’s Railroad Enforcement Unit are investigating the accident.
