Fountain Valley, California (September 28, 2019) – G. Ghimenti, 19, of Clovis was arrested following a suspected DUI collision that left two CHP officers and a civilian injured early Friday morning in Fountain Valley, according to a local news source.

The crash happened shortly before 3 a.m. September 27, on southbound 405 Freeway just south of Warner Avenue.

Authorities said a Toyota Prius and a 2008 Peterbilt were heading south in a construction zone on the freeway when they were rear-ended by a speeding 2013 Chrysler. The impact pushed the Prius off the roadway and it crashed into a CHP patrol vehicle stopped on the side with its lights on.

Two CHP officers were transported to UC Irvine Medical Center following the crash. One of them reportedly sustained major injuries and the other had moderate injuries.

The woman who was driving the Prius was also transported to a hospital with major injuries.

G. Ghimenti Arrested after Fountain Valley DUI Crash

Ghimenti, who was identified as the driver of the Chrysler, was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

All southbound lanes of the freeway were shut down due to the crash.

The crash is under investigation.
