Stockton, California (September 23, 2019) – The San Joaquin County Coroner’s Office have identified the pedestrian who died Wednesday night in an alleged hit-and-run accident in Stockton as McCormick Ward, 60, of Stockton.

The fatal pedestrian accident happened at about 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 18 on Airport Way between East Jackson and East Anderson streets.

Authorities said Ward was walking across Airport Way when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling northbound.

Paramedics responded to the scene and found Ward lying on the roadway following the crash. He was declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle involved fled the scene after the accident. The suspect vehicle was described as a gray or light-blue older model sedan.
