2 Killed, Sadiel Martinez Arrested after Shasta Wrong-Way Crash on 5 Freeway near Lakeland
Shasta, California (September 19, 2019) – Sadiel Martinez has been arrested after a wrong-way fatal collision Friday last week in Shasta, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened on Friday, September 13, on 5 Freeway, near Lakeland.
Authorities said 29-year-old Austin Lee Miller of Weed and a female passenger were traveling on 5 Freeway when his vehicle was hit by a 1992 Ford truck driven by Martinez. The Ford was reportedly driving wrong-way on the freeway at the time.
Mr. Miller and his passenger, 30-year-old Ashley Marie Wright of Grants Pass, Oregon, suffered severe injuries and subsequently died.
Authorities arrested the suspect driver on suspicion of DUI. Illegal guns and illegal marijuana grow were found at the suspect’s home after a police search.
