San Diego, California (September 13, 2019) – An elderly woman was struck and injured by a vehicle on Thursday afternoon in the Clairemont neighborhood, according to San Diego police.

The incident took place shortly before 2 p.m. September 12, in the 5400 block of Clairemont Mesa Boulevard.

Police said a 78-year-old woman was walking along the road when she was hit by a 2014 Toyota RAV4 that was exiting a gas station parking lot. The 49-year-old driver did not see the elderly pedestrian and struck her.

Elderly Pedestrian Hospitalized after San Diego Crash

The victim sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to a hospital.

The driver was unhurt and stayed at the scene.

Police are investigating the incident.
