El Monte, California (September 1, 2019) – A pilot and his passenger were injured when their plane crashed as it left the runway Saturday morning at an airport in El Monte, according to a local news source.

The accident happened at around 11:13 a.m. Saturday, August 31 at San Gabriel Valley Airport.

Authorities said the airplane, described as a twin-engine Cessna, lost power and went airborne. The aircraft then crashed into a fence at the end of the runway.

The occupants inside the plane sustained minor injuries and were transported to a local hospital. As per the local news report, the pilot had a mild head injury.

No further details were immediately provided.
