Vallejo, California (October 7, 2019) – A man was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle on Sunday morning in Vallejo, according to the police.

The crash was reported at about 8:40 a.m. October 6, at Broadway Street and Nebraska Street.

Vallejo police said a 67-year-old Vallejo man was trying to cross Broadway Street in the crosswalk when he was hit by a 2001 Ford Ranger that was trying to make a right turn onto Broadway Street from Nebraska Street.

The victim was transported to a hospital with critical injuries.

The driver of the Ford, a 58-year-old man from Vallejo, was cited for driving with a suspended license.

The crash is under investigation.

Many pedestrians are hurt and several others killed in accidents in California every year. The causes of many of these pedestrian accidents include distracted driving, speeding, drunk driving, reckless driving, bad weather, wrong-way driving and failure to observe traffic laws. It is evident that negligence on the part of motorists is the leading cause of these accidents.
