Contra Costa County, California (May 26, 2021) – Five people were injured Wednesday morning in a traffic collision in Byron, authorities said.
At around 4:40 a.m., emergency personnel was dispatched to the 15500 block of Byron Highway near Camino Diablo for a medical aid call regarding a head-on crash.

A total of five people were injured as a result of the collision. Two patients sustained critical injuries and three others suffered unspecified injuries.
A medical helicopter was requested to transport the victims to the hospital.
Two people reportedly fled the scene with possible major injuries. Byron Highway was closed in both directions following the wreck.
