Escondido, California (December 24, 2019) – A 29-year-old woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after her car collided with a semi-truck Monday morning in Escondido, a local news source reported.

The accident took place at about 8:05 a.m. on northbound 15 Freeway near Highway 78.

As per the article, California Highway Patrol Officer Mark Latulippe said the 29-year-old woman, a Vista resident, was driving a Ford Ranger when she spun out and veered to the left across freeway lanes. A 50-year-old Murrieta man driving a big rig was not able to stop in time and struck the pickup’s passenger side. A Toyota 4Runner later hit the Ford.

The woman was transported to Palomar Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the big rig and the 19-year-old Santee woman driving the 4Runner were not injured.

Authorities issued a SigAlert at about 8:50 a.m. shutting down the left two lanes. The lanes were reopened at about 9:45 a.m.

Authorities said drugs and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the crash. However, the roadway was wet from morning rainfall.
