Truckee, California (September 4, 2020) – Two teenagers were seriously injured in a car crash in Truckee on Thursday night, September 3, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The accident happened on Interstate 80 Freeway near Donner Pass Road.

The authorities said a 14-year-old Truckee boy was driving a Maserati on the roadway when he lost control and hit the guardrail south of the roadway.

The vehicle is reported to have caught fire after the collision.

Although the boy was able to get out of the car, he is reported to have suffered severe burns.

A 15-year-old girl from Olympic Valley who was riding in the car was also able to get out of the burning car. She reportedly suffered burns and internal injuries.

The two were transported to the hospital for treatment.

No additional information about the accident was provided.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
