Two Girls Injured in Irwindale Hit-and-Run Crash at Live Oak Avenue and Arrow Highway
Irwindale, California (April 15, 2021) – A 41-year-old El Monte man was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run accident that left two teenaged girls injured Saturday afternoon in Irwindale, authorities said.
At around 3:10 p.m. Saturday, April 10, emergency personnel responded to the area of Live Oak Avenue and Arrow Highway to investigate the report of a single-vehicle traffic accident.
Authorities determined that a blue Honda Accord drifted off the roadway and slammed into a palm tree in the center median.
Two 15-year-old girls were trapped in the wreckage and had to be extricated by firefighters. Paramedics took one of the patients to a local hospital with major injuries, authorities said.
The Honda driver, identified Alexander Ramos, fled the scene on foot. On Sunday, Ramos turned himself into police and was booked into West Covina City Jail on charges of felony hit-and-run, causing injury or death; felony child endangerment; and violation of his parole conditions.
The accident remains under investigation.
