El Monte, California (November 17, 2019) – A driver and a motorcyclist were killed early Sunday morning in a multi-vehicle crash involving six vehicles on 10 Freeway in El Monte, according to authorities.

The deadly multi-vehicle crash happened at about 5:20 a.m. in the westbound lanes of the freeway, just west of Valley Boulevard.

Authorities said for an unknown reason, a 2013 Harley-Davidson motorcycle, driven by a 25-year-old West Covina man, and a 2003 Acura, driven by a 52-year-old West Covina man, collided in the westbound lanes of the freeway.

The Acura crashed into the center median and ended up sitting sideways across the carpool and fast lanes. An approaching 2019 Ford Transit then hit the Acura. The Ford Transit come to a stop in the fast lane and was hit by the Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The force of the impact ejected the driver from the  Acura and came to a stop in the roadway. The Acura was then hit by a westbound 2007 Mercedes-Benz E350, followed by a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 and a 2017 Honda Civic.

The motorcyclist and the driver of the Acura were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names have not been disclosed pending notification of family.

The operator of the Ford Transit sustained minor injuries and was transported to a hospital. No other injuries were reported.

No one was arrested following the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.
