2 Killed and 2 Injured in Dublin Car Crash on 680 Freeway near Alcosta Boulevard

Dublin, California (January 10, 2021) – Two people were killed and two others were injured in a fiery two-vehicle collision that happened in Dublin early Sunday morning.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, the tragic accident happened on Interstate 680 Freeway near Alcosta Boulevard at about 3:30 a.m.
The authorities said a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling southbound on the freeway when it lost control and crashed into the center divider before coming to a stop in the left lane.
A short time later, a passing Ford Fiesta crashed into the disabled Volkswagen. The authorities said the Jetta caught fire after the crash.
Two people who were trapped inside the Jetta were pronounced dead at the scene.
A third person in the Jetta sustained major injuries while the driver of the Fiesta sustained moderate injuries in the accident.
The two were transported to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for treatment.
The identities of the victims were not immediately established.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
